Jorge Reviews: Peaches @ Home Nightclub

Although Shunda K (formerly one half of hip hop duo, Yo Majesty) was unfamiliar to an otherwise tame crowd she still rocked Home nightclub warming everybody up for Peaches. The hot MC set the mood with “Donʼt Let Go” with her DJ providing backing tunes. A stripped back version of Yo Majestyʼs tracks made up the majority of her set showcasing her lyrical genius. Lashunda displayed a softer side of herself during “Buy Love” and not only can this sister rap, she can sing too justifying the self proclaimed voice of Yo Majesty.

As the Peaches show started some mysterious figures appeared on stage. Faces were concealed and Peaches was nowhere to be seen. As the lights faded, a dark figure emerged reminiscent of Cousin IT. Stripping away into a signature pink suit, Peaches took to the stage equipped with some mighty fine back-up moves to titillate. Introducing us to her Berlin-based backing band Sweet Machine, Peaches wowed punters with the highly contagious “Talk To Me” and it was clear Peaches was in the house.

Opening support Shunda K joined peaches on stage for “Billionaire”, feeding off each other’s verses and flow. After a quick wardrobe change, the hits kept on rolling with “Serpentine” off her latest album I Feel Cream. A highly entertaining spectacle watching Peaches skip in a snake outfit and jerking the giant prop around and into the audience. The mayhem continued with “Slippery Dick”, highly appropriate for the costume resembled something more like a one eyed snake. Crowd involvement is something to expect from the electro-queen herself who dived into the crowd during “More” and soon demanding everyone’s undivided attention and help as she walked over the crowd during “Show Stopper”.

Peaches wrapped up her set with “I Feel Cream” and the crowd favourite, “Fuck The Pain Away” moments after rubbing champagne all up in our faces. Not nearly as satisfied with her set, Peaches returned for an encore again with her backing band Sweet Machine to play “You Love It” and climaxed with Peaches convulsing red dye onto excited fans.
